i have found that this blog has proved to be a confession booth... for pop culture which i have succumb to. though, these ladies, i'm not too ashamed of. when i think back to the zigaziga-ah... i am reminded of simpler times in my youth (not long ago) when i could spend the weekend dressing up as the spice girls and watching spice world with my best friends. i still remember the first time i heard them, on the bus ride home. i had a cool bus driver who played 101.5 - the rest is history.in halloweens past, i pulled the scary spice card a few times and it is remembered as my best halloweens. one would assume that i of course did the 'fro, but i went all out and did my hair in all the mini buns as scary often did. it was super fun. i will try my hardest to find pictures...
i just want to add that these girls are so cool, even still. all have become mothers in the years since spicehood and have flourished in other areas. (well... maybe not flourish, but have done things.) i just have to say that i'm super excited for their reunion tour and hope they can work their spicy magic once again. even if they don't, they still have a special place in my heart.
now, one of my favorite songs just so happens to be a famous elevator song made famous by stan getz and astrud gilberto in the mid-60's called the girl from ipanema. i cannot explain why but i have loved this song since i was a little girl. i am a big fan of stan getz and bossa-nova music. i am enthralled with it. the song is actually written about a girl who used to walk by a cafe where the writers, antonio jobim and vinicuis de maraes, used to frequent. she'd walk past and get a chorus of wolf-whistling.ever since this fascination with this song began, i've wanted to travel to the lovely ipanema, rio de janeiro, brazil. known as the marvelous city, it is home to the beaches of ipanema and copacabana. (known to host the verrrry scantily clad.) rio is also known for the giant jesus statue atop the corcavado mountian. so who's with me? a little visit to the beaches of ipanema, and some dancing at the copa?

see? it's where my heart is.
tall and tan and young and lovely, the girl from ipanema goes walking...

okay. confession. sadly, (but secretly, very happily) i have been sucked into the phenomenon that is heroes. some of you may have avoided watching this show, thinking, "who wants to watch a show about people with super powers"... as i did, but evan roped me into watching it one day. (truthfully, i just didn't feel like watching cute little hayden panettiere. i thought i wouldn't like her. but she is too cute not to like.) this was two days ago - i am almost done with the first season. does that tell you something? obviously there is something special about this show. i didn't listen to the hype about the show... but they were right about this one. let me tell you.

favorite character by far is hiro nakamura. it's a little ironic that his name is hiro... his power is bending space and time - time travel - but he is soooo cute when he does it. he scrunches up his face and concentrates really hard and shakes. it's so funny. the funny thing about hiro is he's from tokyo, japan and has a super thick accent but in real life has barely a hint of an accent. we've been watching interviews with him on conan and the view and he is so delightful. he is so much fun to watch. love him.
update: another reason to love masi oka - he made the cover of time magazine when he was 12 years old and did the special effects for a lot of movies. and he's funny. like reeeally funny.

if you haven't, do yourself a favor. it's pretty fun to watch. it doesn't hurt that milo ventimiglia is the main character and certainly pretty cute. still doesn't compare to lost but it will do for the time being. (until lost comes back. now that show is a doozer.)
if you had one super power, what would it be?
why?

we want to move to another country. scotland, anyone? i want to go anywhere on the otherside of the ocean. i need to go anywhere on the otherside of the ocean. culture other then that of america awaits me elsewhere!
i want to live on a houseboat in seattle somewhere. what an adventure that would be! it seems so carefree and interesting. sadly, they are very very expensive.
i want to have an art show of paintings, drawings and ceramics that will blow people way. it would be so wonderful to make people feel the way i feel when i see art. i want to evoke emotion with what i do. i want to get better at it too. i don't know when i'll ever have the time to do this, or even finish this painting...
i can't think of anything else too profound right now. except that i have to do the laundry.

ode to some of my amazing friends...
all i need to say is this:
"ain't no mountain high enough."
when i hear this song, i am reminded of some of the coolest girls i know. i don't know where this song became the anthem of friendship, it could have been on TCL 1 2003 when we were doing dishcrews or doing stick duty, but this song will always remind me of my best friends. i hear it at work, while i'm creating quality beverages with a legendary attitude (ha!) or when i'm driving around the crazy streets of seattle -- but it always puts a smile on my face. a favorite memory: breaking it down and working up a sweat to this song with my girls right before my wedding, in the blue room... while in my wedding dress. : ) this song will always bring a smile to my face... plus the fact that we have moves to it that we all know. girls, if you read this,
i adore you.

what could our children POSSIBLY look like?luckily, i have been learning patience as of late. that means, Lord willing, no kids for quite a while. the idea of kids is great, but i know i am not mother material yet. i have a lot of growing up to do and there are too many things evan and i want to do before we get there. i am learning to be content with the place where i am. taking each day as it comes, making the best of things that happen, these things are really important to me. anyway -- to answer lucy's question, i have some interesting names brewing. if i post, you can't steal 'em. they may be "strange" but i really do like them. it will be funny to see what their names actually end up being, it's so easy to think of names you like, but i'm sure it's a lot different when they're born.
Girls: Avery, Halene, Harper, Laine, Quinn
Boys: Alden, Cohen, Emerson, Jack, Wyatt
for now though, i'm just content with life as is. i will admire other people's babies. and be the best aunt i can be to my delightful niece, hannah, and handsome little nephew ethan. they just started playing peewee soccer. my brother john's girlfriend, katie is expecting a little one here soon too, a boy. we'll see if i can't help them pick a great name for their baby. yay babies. especially ones that aren't mine!

an eternal sleepover. i think that is the cutest way to describe marriage. i may have only been married for a few months now, but it has been so much fun so far. i am constantly learning things about evan. being pushed beyond what i feel capable of to love him even if i don't feel like it. some of the things i like about being married besides the obvious...
-making dinner together, or having evan make it for me. (so nice that he's a better cook.)
-singing in the car, loudly, and off-key often, in my case. (current favorite: missed the boat by modest mouse for the part where he says, "shake, shake, shake, shake, shake!")
-hearing evan laugh really hard at stuff, the kind of laugh where you actually can't hear it.
-having a tutor on hand 24-7 for any education downfalls i may encounter. (he's brills.)
-constant self-esteem booster. not in superficial ways either... he always reminds me of things that i sometimes forget.
i love this guy. i am looking forward to all the things that we have in our future together. like kids. man, they are going to be super cute or very strange looking. either way, trust they'll have sweet names. i throw those out everyday, and most of the time get turned down. he'll fold eventually... ha.
p.s. bridget is the originator of the collage. i am so sorry to copy you, you're just the coolest though.

i am sarah. this blog will be thoughts, wishes, and dreams. cheesy, but whatever. i have been inspired by many to begin this. i hope i have time, or will make time to do it. i embark on this with my best friend, serrah.
this post is short, because as it is the first, it is intimidating.
i can't think of anything profound to say... more to come, i am sure.
update. kate started one too! this is going to be good fun.
