this past weekend, i found out that i got into the University of Washington. i jumped up and down about 10 times, screamed, and called everyone in my phone. i start winter quarter, sometime in january. i am going to talk to an adviser soon to figure out how i can graduate quickest. and if you were wondering, i am going to be an art major, probably painting and drawing...

my dear friend rickey called me up this afternoon and offered to take me to the special acoustic jason mraz show at the paramount tonight! don't worry, he offered to take evan first, but evan being the kind hearted husband he is, insisted that i go. i am super excited. my last concert was an aqueduct show this past summer... i am a huge fan of mraz's live stuff much more then his regular albums so this going to be great.
life has been a blur of school and nannying. i cannot wait for thanksgiving break and fall quarter to be DONE, so i can get the heck outta seattle central.
off to facilitate some lego building...
EDIT: really amazing show. he played a lot of songs off the live at java joe's album which is my favorite. rick told me some of the songs he played, he hadn't played in over 4 years so it was a treat. we had a great time! woo!

i have finally made a decision about what i will be for halloween this year. of course, i won't spoil it right now, but i am really looking forward to all the prep for it. evan and i went to a costume shop near our house last week and wandered aimlessly through the aisles, looking for anything interesting to be. i tried on about 12 wigs because i thought that was the direction of my costume... it wasn't. i won't even have hair in the costume i've chosen. i am grossed out with the thought of being sexy on halloween. it repulses me. halloween is supposed to be spooky and silly. and that is what it will be this year. i will start hunting for my costume tonight! YIPPEE!

i swear i could write a book about the funny things that will says to me. today, he overheard me talking (or lecturing, really) my mom about voting for barack obama. as i got off the phone, he said, "does your mom enjoy war or something? because if john mccain is our next president, that is what we're gonna get. more war." i chuckled, because really, what seven year old knows that much about the world outside legos and star wars? prodding a little more, i asked him what he thought about john mccain. he went on to make the best statement about him i've heard yet. "sure, john mccain is cool. if cool means he's constipated, overrated, overweight and a loser." i laughed a lot... then scolded him for calling him those names. (though inside, i'm in total agreement. heehee.)
edit: i do not mean to offend anyone's political beliefs but ... in no way do i support john mccain. after watching the presidential debates, i am absolutely embarrassed that anyone would support him. the comments made about my blog in no way support the beliefs that i uphold. (if john mccain wins, i will seriously consider moving to canada... say what you will about me, i absolutely do not care. i won't because i love washington too much. but if i didn't... heeeeello canada.)

life is . . .
- peanut butter and honey sandwiches.
(not for me, of course. for sir william.)
- people taking up both seats on a full bus and refusing to scoot over.
(i don't enjoy that. ever. especially when the aisle is full of standing people.)
- chicken fajitas with onions and peppers.
(that one is for me. yummy.)
- making new friends in classes.
(in geology and math, i have nice friends to sit with.)
- crude construction workers tiling my bathroom.
(it can be a little uncomfortable when i have no where to go.)
i have finally given up on summer ... i know it's officially over. i can't be depressed about starting school anymore. today i turned in my application for graduation from seattle central, and might i say what a good feeling that was. fina-freaking-lly. i have been at seattle central since the fall of 2005. i am getting veeeeeery sick of it and it is completely time to move on.
blah. i need a new rain jacket. i love clothes from rei that make me feel outdoorsy even if i am not. but i guess since i am living in seattle, i have that liberty.

recent happenings. . .
my brother brian and his wife laura welcomed a new baby boy into the world on friday, september 19. benjamin daniel jovich was born around 11 am and weighed in at 8 lbs. evan and i went to visit on saturday morning and though my opinion is a little biased, he is one of the most gorgeous babies i have seen in a long time. now we have 3 nephews and 2 nieces. there will be no children from evan and i for a while, in case you were wondering. (although, i have been having quite vivid dreams about being pregnant lately.)
our apartment building was bought by a new company a few months ago. since then, the new management has been making some big changes. new plumbing, new windows, new doors. with all theses new things, there's been a lot of construction and random people in our unit at inopportune times of the day. so, we have new plumbing, which i love. no more trying to plan my showers around the guy upstairs taking baths. we have new windows, so we can actually see the stunning view of the downtown skyline we have. and tomorrow, we'll have a new door, so i won't have to struggle and kill my fingers every time i try to unlock the deadbolt.
now, with all the new stuff, i figure it's probably time to give ol' 108 a paint job. the downside to painting is that when we move out, we'll have to paint it back to white. though honestly, i think it would be worth it to spruce up our digs for the time being. it would probably bring a lot of joy to my days when it starts getting a bit more dreary.
i began school today at seattle central which will hopefully be my last quarter. (FINALLY.) Lord willing, i will be going to uw winter quarter and spending some time finishing my undergrad. it's looking like i will be majoring in painting and drawing. at sccc this quarter, i am finishing up with geology and math 098. geology will be rockin' (haha.) because my teacher seems like a great guy and he's gone to school all over the place, so i know he's got a good educational foundation. plus, he's been there 15 years. in stark contrast to prof. hull, my math teacher seems to be a very young, inexperienced and rather dull girl. going on first impressions that is. . . it is just frustrating to me because in my experience, i learn well with a certain method and she doesn't even have a method. so we'll see how it goes. (if it's too tough, my mom did accidently buy me the instructor edition of my math book. . . though i do feel bad about it and plan on returning it.)
lastly, evan passed his firefighting physical with flying colors. now all he has to do is wait for a callback from the tacoma fire department for an interview. prayer would be greatly appreciated, for him to get a callback and that the interview will go well. : )
well, i'm off to pick up my charge from school and book it to soccer practice.
edit: though evan may become a tacoma firefighter, we will in no way be moving to tacoma. i repeat, in no way will we be moving to tacoma. c'mon, i still have quite a while at uw. . . once i get in, that is.

this weekend, i had a fun little getaway to sarah's house with her to visit her family and meet up with brittany. during highschool, i used to spend a lot of weekends at their house, so it was so much fun to do things like back in the day. on saturday afternoon, we were in des moines taking advantage of the 50th anniversary celebration at b&e meats and getting free tri-tip sandwiches when we heard that robin williams was filming a new movie up at the huge scary masonic lodge on the hill. being the curious ladies we are, sonya drove sarah, leah and i up there to take a little peak. as we were looking through the window, we saw some crew wheeling around various film equipment and got excited! a man was walking by and opened the door for us. . . "are you girls here to be extras?" ... "yes?!" ... "oh, you're in the wrong part of the building, right this way"...
long story short, we got to be extras in a new movie called dear lemon lima. it is a coming of age story about a girl who wins a scholarship to a prep school or something... we got to dress up in prep school uniforms, complete with knee high socks. : ) we even got to have hannah and brittany come join us.
i will say, it was quite the interesting experience. many of the extras acted as though they should have been the stars . . . taking their little background action a little too seriously. one girl even brought her headshot and carried it around. ridiculous. anyway, quite a random but very fun experience.

i hate writing. hate hate hate it. one gift i was most definitely not blessed with. i am seething as i write my personal statement to the university of washington because nothing is coming out the way i'd like. it's not cute. it's not clever. it just sounds stupid.
this is just a means to vent.
i probably won't let anyone read it either, don't be offended.
i'll show you something else creative.
my writing is terrible. DRATS.
isn't it funny i have a blog at all?

this has been such a wonderful time for unwinding and rebooting. evan and i are here with evan's parents, bob and machelle and his sister emily. i am really sad to come home, i love the sun too much. evan and i have had some conversations about the possibility of living on oahu. (they have the biggest cities.) we've been to the big island (2 christmas' ago) and now maui. both are really cool in different ways, but i think oahu would be the place to live if you were considering moving. we probably won't since i have a little more school to finish but it's a fun idea. i do miss everyone back home and am a little excited not to be so hot all the time.
ps. i am going to be a vampire for halloween in honor of the cullen family. anyone who has read the twilight saga knows what i'm talking about...

our stay at the inn at langley was great. as we were heading up there thursday afternoon, i kept remembering all these little details about what needed to get done between that day and friday. that always seems to happen to me... right when i think i can relax, i get sideswiped with annoying things i forgot to do. needless to say, we got up to whidbey by the afternoon and checked into the inn. i didn't know it at the time, but i knew the entire staff on duty that weekend, sans the chef. so it made for a fun time of seeing old friends and relaxing with evan.
our room was gorgeous, exactly the same as the pictures in my previous post. so beautiful, great weather. our amazing dinner started at 7 that evening, we were seated at the community table with a big family.
-the amuse bouche of the meal was a cherry filled with duck liver moussiline with a rose hip jam made from roses in the garden at the inn. the wine pairing was a sparkling white wine that complimented the cherry quite well. i was a bit apprehensive because i'm not a risk taker when it comes to food. it was delicious and i wasn't as grossed out as i would have imagined.
-the soup was a fresh fennel soup with crab, fava beans and green garlic, served with fresh bread. this was paired with a red wine. this was my favorite course of the entire meal. rich and full, i ate as much as i could before the next course was brought out.
-following the soup, we were served a fresh alaskan king salmon on crushed peas with panchetta bits and a citrus glaze. also paired with a merlot. i'm not used to eating salmon prepared this way, but it was a pleasant surprise and very good.
-the entree for the dinner was very tender lamb served over asparagus and fresh polenta. also served with a merlot. this lamb was so decedent and delicious. i had to give some to evan because i was getting pretty full at this point.
-next was a cheese plate served with pepper biscotti and rhubarb jam. the wine served to accompany was a dessert wine that was a little too sweet for my liking. the cheese was very tasty, my adjectives for describing this meal are not doing the food justice, but believe me, it was amazing.
-finally the dessert for the meal was a fresh apricot sorbet with white chocolate made at a local dessert place. this was served with coffee. i always save room for dessert. the sorbet was really fruity, unlike any sorbet i'd had before.
-lastly, the after dessert-dessert were tiny truffles with interesting fillings like cheyenne pepper and lavender. these were to die for. made at the same local dessert place, if you're ever on the island and in langley, try some!
following dessert, it was difficult to even make it back to the room from too much good food and too much good wine. overall, i couldn't have asked for a better evening to share with my amazing husband of a year. unbelievable. it's been a wonderful year and i couldn't have imagined marrying a more intelligent, handsome, loving, funny and interesting person then evan. here's to many more, love bug!

today was an sad/happy/super exciting day for will and i! this morning, we were sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast and looking at his four tadpoles. will decided their habitat was getting a bit dirty, so we got a new container and found the net to move them into their new home. mistake number one: making the transition near the sink. will wanted to do this on his own, so i just stood by cringing, not wanting to touch the little wiggly things. tadpoles one, two and three made it into their new home just fine. tadpole four was very very adventurous and jumped out of the net into the garbage disposal. i have seen too many movies where that thing gets turned on when someone's hand is in there, so i refused to do it. maybe that makes me a bad nanny, i don't know. will simply said, "the tadpole has free will. he made his choice. if he wants to live down there, so be it." i decided it was probably best to just let it be for a little while until i could figure out what to do. i took a flashlight and saw the area wasn't too big, but i still couldn't bare the thought of sticking my precious hand down that disgusting hole to fish out the creature. in frustration, i just let the water fun until the sink was half full. to my surprise, the little tadpole popped out of the hole, and thinking quickly, i grabbed the net and scooped that little sucker to safety. i am now proud to say the tadpole is safe at home with his friends. never doing that again.

silly thoughts of the day.
today, i took my final math test for the quarter. it was a breeze, luckily. summer begins today. i am a bit apprehensive about summer for some reason. . . i can't put my finger on it, but there is just an anxious feeling in my gut today. i don't know if i'll be bored? i will be working pretty close to full time for the family i nanny for. but will has a lot of summer camps, and they're taking a few trips, so i'll have to figure out what to do with myself during those lazy summer days off. i just know that i don't want to get soft. . . i feel like being in school gives me purpose. keeps me occupied. i don't want to rely on school to feel like i'm making good use of my time.
you know what it is. . . i'm not at camp. camp taught me to waste time in a fun way. i could do nothing all day, and be perfectly content. being surrounded by such cool peeps all day is what did it for me, i think. better hightail it up there, i'd say.
the internet at our apartment is not working. . . we "borrow" internet from some unsuspecting neighbor. maybe they've figured it out? needless to say, i walked up the street to a little cafe on bagley and 40th called irwin's. it isn't crowded and it isn't pretentious like some places around here. i am finding ways to keep myself productive today. too often i just lay on the couch and watch those stupid judge shows. my question: who the frick watches those?! besides me when there is nothing else on.
anyway. . . i need to make a list of stuff i want accomplished. and i am starting my application to the university of washington today. yikes. i'm nervous. i have to get into that school. . .

evan and i will be celebrating our one year anniversary coming up on the 29th of june. we have planned ahead to spend a night at the inn at langley. my dear friend is helping us to avoid any costs for our stay, because she works there. we will also get to enjoy a 6 course meal with wine pairings, which we're really looking forward to. i feel so blessed because this will be such a nice break from everything, school, work, social events, etc. just time to spend together. evan is part of a friend's wedding the weekend of our anniversary so we'll celebrate a few days before the festivities begin. it will truly be a fun experience of the finer things in life. : )

MY DAY OFF!
today is my one day this week i don't watch will after school. i view this day as an opportunity to skip school (though this morning i really wasn't feelin' too hot.) and do whatever the heck i need to get done/want to do. a mix of tasks that there simply isn't enough time for, relaxing a little, helping friends with projects, and shopping downtown with ma.
to-do today!
-wash the hair. (long process done once a week because i have "special hair.")
-wash the laundry.
-do dishes.
-vacuum.
-clean our room.
-change sheets.
-do homework.
-go to the gym.
-grocery shop.
-help kelly with health poster.
-shop downtown for new SEVENS!
-rrrrr-eeeee-lllll-aaaaa-xxxxx.
so i'm glad everyone gets to know what i'm doing today. just felt like sharing what a day off from work is like in my life. haha... and i know it doesn't get any easier.

what a fabulous, fun, and freakin' hot birthday weekend!
thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with me. thank you for your presence in my life. you have all made this weekend one to remember, for sure. though i didn't get to take as many pictures as i would have liked, here are a few. there were many delicious meals, tasty drinks, and time with wonderful family and friends. the weather was hot, hot, hot which made for some great nights to go out. and in case you're wondering. . . a cosmopolitan really is my new favorite!

i have had the same haircut since 9th grade, with little variation. in winter, i was drastic and cut myself bangs, which turned out fine. in light of my 21st birthday in 10 days, i have made myself an appointment for a haircut tomorrow. i am going to cut it very short. i am scared/excited. scared that i won't be able to put it in a ponytail on days i'm running late, and also excited that it will be something new. i feel like a little kid sometimes -- short hair will provide just the sass and sophistication i have been craving in my life. (i am looking forward to sleeping in curlers and waking up with a mass of curly hair.) i will post pictures tomorrow.
snip, snip!

due to the nature of this post, please please proceed with caution. this is scary:
some of you may have heard about this. . . i have just read one of the most alarming things i've come across in quite some time. apparently, there is an "artist" at yale university who has decided for her senior "art project" she thought it a brilliant idea to self-inseminate (as much as possible, might i add.) while taking abortifacient drugs to induce miscarriages over a nine month period.
this woman saved the blood of each miscarriage and video taped it. her goal was to start conversation and debate on the relationship between art and the human body. to display the project, she plans to smear the blood, mixed with vaseline to keep from drying, on plastic sheeting, and play the videos of herself collecting blood after each miscarriage.
what is this world coming to? how can people do this for ART PROJECTS? mutilating the body and taking lives hardly qualifies as art. she is abusing her constitutional rights and it is sick and wrong. my heart aches for this girl... i don't understand what she's trying to prove. she is just hurting so many many people in this process.

- Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
- Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie (or quote them from memory).
- Post them on your blog for everyone to guess.
- Fill in the film title once it’s been guessed.
- No Googling or using IMDb search functions (don’t cheat!)
- Leave your answer(s) in the comments.

"I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE. I DRINK IT UP."put this on your blockbuster total access/netflix queue if you haven't already. 158 minutes long, but it is a good film. trust me, i normally hate movies set in this time period but i was entertained the entire time. Daniel Day-Lewis truly deserved his oscar for this movie.

a dear childhood friend recently asked me to be maid of honor in her june wedding. i happily accepted. . . who doesn't want to be the maid of honor? : ) in the busyness of getting married, all the details have escaped my memory about preparing showers and such. (thank you to everyone who helped with mine!! you did a lot and i am thankful!!) i am beginning to think about the bridal showers we're going to have. i did a preliminary search on the internet for some fresh ideas. just to let you know, the internet sucks. there are plenty of websites but they're so poorly put together, they're not fun to look at or read. i'm already frustrated and i've barely begun! i will host the lingerie party at our apartment in seattle and we'll hold the less racy bridal shower at my parents house on whidbey. does anyone have saucy ideas for themes? i have a couple games in mind. . . my lingerie party was outrageous. : ) anyway, i figure we've all been to dozens of showers, and i'm blanking on what happened at mine. if you could let me know anything that stands out to you about some you've been to, that would be stupendous!

sorry, that last post was just a little joke. i wanted to call my mom and tell her that, but decided it would be more fun to prank anyone who might read my little blog. anyway, i am happy to say that i am not with child at the moment. . . that i know of. . . and that is a good thing for evan and i. in recent news:
-if you haven't looked at your calender, ITS APRIL. that is muy excelente. i love spring time.
-i started school monday. math is going to be hard with a LOT of work, but the teacher is kind and very good at teaching math, so with any hope, i can 4.0 this class. art history is very difficult for me because there are many people in my class who are trying very hard to sound like they know everything about art. they dont. or they would be teaching the class. my teacher is a tiny 90 year old lady with a strong latin accent. she is interesting. to this point, i don't like her teaching style much. but it is still too soon to tell. spanish is great. very advanced, but my teacher is a funny guy. in about 3 weeks, i will have written a 10 page report on spain in spanish. since i've gotten this far in spanish, i am thinking about minoring in it. conversationally, i am teeeeeeeeeeeerrible. but i am going to work hard on that.
-nannying is going so/so. will and i are starting to understand each other. with the weather nicer, we're getting to the park more often and playing catch. this interaction is good because it will help build a bond. i'm looking forward to being his nanny this summer. many excursions.
just some recent developments. in case you were curious. : )

with spring comes warm weather.
we may not be having much of it right now, but it is just around the corner. i am so excited for these next couple months. this spring quarter will be fairly easy. . . spanish 103, math and art history. . . it will keep me busy but when the sun is shining and it's warm outside, who can complain? anyway, there are a lot of enjoyable things to come . . . birthdays, weddings, vacations in hawaii, day trips to the beach, relaxation.
there are good things coming.

i am literally going insane. i wake up every morning to a kitchen full of these little pests.
mind you, i am a fairly clean person . . . alice taught me to keep things tidy. apparently, these little guys don't care how clean things are, they are in search of something. needless to say, i am going crazy. i waste all my cleaning products drowning them in little pools of cleaner and wiping them up followed by flushing them down the toilet. when it first began, i'd feel really mean and put honey all over the counter and watch them get stuck. i.am.over.it.
GET THEM OUT OF HERE!!!!
i called the landlord and he's sending someone to take care of them.
it will give me some peace of mind. . .
UPDATE:
upon writing this post, i got so upset and disgusted that i marched myself down to the local grocer, bought 5 ant traps and set them up very strategically. for the next few hours, i watched the small scavengers bring hoards of poison back to their colonies. oh what poor suckers. then, this morning, much to my surprise, the ants were already dwindling in force. there were a few stragglers who must have been slacking off yesterday while everyone else was getting their work done. anyway, i think it worked. and i am happy.
