recent happenings. . .

my brother brian and his wife laura welcomed a new baby boy into the world on friday, september 19. benjamin daniel jovich was born around 11 am and weighed in at 8 lbs. evan and i went to visit on saturday morning and though my opinion is a little biased, he is one of the most gorgeous babies i have seen in a long time. now we have 3 nephews and 2 nieces. there will be no children from evan and i for a while, in case you were wondering. (although, i have been having quite vivid dreams about being pregnant lately.)

our apartment building was bought by a new company a few months ago. since then, the new management has been making some big changes. new plumbing, new windows, new doors. with all theses new things, there's been a lot of construction and random people in our unit at inopportune times of the day. so, we have new plumbing, which i love. no more trying to plan my showers around the guy upstairs taking baths. we have new windows, so we can actually see the stunning view of the downtown skyline we have. and tomorrow, we'll have a new door, so i won't have to struggle and kill my fingers every time i try to unlock the deadbolt.

now, with all the new stuff, i figure it's probably time to give ol' 108 a paint job. the downside to painting is that when we move out, we'll have to paint it back to white. though honestly, i think it would be worth it to spruce up our digs for the time being. it would probably bring a lot of joy to my days when it starts getting a bit more dreary.

i began school today at seattle central which will hopefully be my last quarter. (FINALLY.) Lord willing, i will be going to uw winter quarter and spending some time finishing my undergrad. it's looking like i will be majoring in painting and drawing. at sccc this quarter, i am finishing up with geology and math 098. geology will be rockin' (haha.) because my teacher seems like a great guy and he's gone to school all over the place, so i know he's got a good educational foundation. plus, he's been there 15 years. in stark contrast to prof. hull, my math teacher seems to be a very young, inexperienced and rather dull girl. going on first impressions that is. . . it is just frustrating to me because in my experience, i learn well with a certain method and she doesn't even have a method. so we'll see how it goes. (if it's too tough, my mom did accidently buy me the instructor edition of my math book. . . though i do feel bad about it and plan on returning it.)

lastly, evan passed his firefighting physical with flying colors. now all he has to do is wait for a callback from the tacoma fire department for an interview. prayer would be greatly appreciated, for him to get a callback and that the interview will go well. : )

well, i'm off to pick up my charge from school and book it to soccer practice.

edit: though evan may become a tacoma firefighter, we will in no way be moving to tacoma. i repeat, in no way will we be moving to tacoma. c'mon, i still have quite a while at uw. . . once i get in, that is.
