today i quit starbucks. or rather, put in my two weeks notice. it was a very bittersweet moment for me. while i don't really enjoy the ave much anymore or the absolutely psycho customers that frequent the store, i will truly miss my "partners"... the only reason i stayed so long, was able to bear the job and actually make it through a shift was because of the awesome people i worked with. it is the end of an era. i remember praying a few summers ago that God would bless me with a job. He did, He is always faithful and good, and it was a great run. But i feel that i have been blessed with another great oppurtunity. so it is out with the old and in with the new. it'll start 2008 off with a new vibe. i'm looking forward to it, too. we (evan and i) were invited over to the family's house for lunch where i'll be nannying, tomorrow. exciting things, all around. : )

yay! i've met with both parents seperately and we all
feel that this will be a good fit... i have to meet will now.
it seems funny that we've all agreed to this and i haven't
even met will yet. i meet him this weekend. he seems
like a great kid. so that's the last step. let's hope that goes
well, also. : )

wish me luck!

during this crazy christmas season, it can be easy to forget what it's all about. it's not about us... it's about Him more than anything. so take that spending down a notch, spend that quality time with the fam, and love JESUS!

worship more.
spend less.
give more.
love all.

can we all agree to this?

so... i am considering quitting sbux to find a job in nannying. i have been constantly searching craigslist for positions. i have found some which look pretty promising, so we'll see where that goes. to anyone who has been a nanny, what can i expect? did you like nannying or do you have a tid-bit of advice to steer me away from this job? i think i would enjoy nannying because i love kids, though i know they can be tiring. i don't want my own yet, so taking care of someone else's seem fun. i hope to find a nannying job near wallingford, greenlake or queen anne. times are a changin'. : ) oh, as for the nanny diaries, not a very good movie, but a wonderful book.

yiddish. i am going to master this language, i tell you. i may be a spanish student right now and as much as it is probably more practical, it's just not as fun. so... i would love to start taking yiddish classes. i am going to look into taking them at Hillel UW... looks like it'll be a while. it will be worth the wait, though.

learn a little yiddish yourself:
-pisher : a cute little stinker.
-punim : pretty face, cute face.
-meshugganuh : crazy girl.
-shmutz : little mess.
-bubleleh : darling, honey, sweetie.
- yenta: gossipy girl.

i hope to delve a little deeper then these words, but we shall see.
maybe a book on yiddish for christmas? : )

happy thanksgiving, everyone.

evan helping tend the fire.

the most priceless silly face timed shot i have ever seen of aj.
love you, ma.

mj bringin' the silly. he's the best.

my lovely laura and brian.

katie, john and cute lola all cuddled on the couch.

that jovich clan sure is silly. what a kick.

we busted out the wigs. : )

highlights to the pre-thanksgiving jovich family gathering: a lovely meal prepared by aj, sharing what we're thankful for, evan making lola bark and go crazy, playing a boisterous game of scattergories in teams, making pinecone turkeys, and trying to get that perfect timed shot of aj being a goof. i think i succeeded.

thanks for a wonderful thanksgiving celebration, guys. you're all wonderful. love you.

anyone who wants to join me for a well needed disco party sometime in the very near future, don't hesitate to contact me. i can't emphasis this enough, but i really want to boogie down. cut a rug. bust a move. get down on it. shake my booty. put on my boogie shoes. do the ymca and celebrate the good times. this hankering just came on suddenly, but i know it cannot be stopped. who doesn't love a good dp every now and then? and who just wants to let loose and wake up sore... cause you were dancing the night away? not a gross dance club type dance, just a good old fashioned dp? please people, this needs to happen sooner then
later. let me know. it can be liberating. it will be liberating.

here are some thoughts and things going on with me lately. there is no real flow to this post, just a jumble of things that all came tumbling out.

obsession: i just started watching the oc again, and am in love once again. this show is so funny to me because it is ridiculous but i can never stop watching. of course, first season is the best, but season two is still good too. third and fourth, ehh, not so good, but just watching first and second season are fine for me. seth is too witty for his own good. and i love summer. i wish she were my real life friend. : ) anyway... it's great and i don't care if it's silly.

wish: i want to create these things again. highschool was great because there were no creative boundries. our school had great resources and it was so nice to be able to take advantage of it. i wish i had access to a dark room to process pictures. there is such an artform to developing. now, ceramics, my first passion... once we have an excess of money, i want to start some pottery classes. not in college though, because they put limits on you and say you must begin with handbuilding because they think no one can do things. i just want five pounds of porcelain, a wheel, a kiln and a ton of ocre.
current excitement: looking forward to spending time with my family up at my parents house for thanksgiving. it is really special to me to be around these cool people and just enjoy each other's company. i'm excited to create tradition with my family now that we're expanding. evan and i were put in charge of bringing salad, so if you've got a tasty recipe for something, let me know please! this year will be different because we've lost a few special people, but they will be fondly remembered and are still deeply loved by many.
new favorite movie: i just recently watched this movie and relieved the moments i loved so much when i first saw this so long ago. it is a fun musical about the taming of the shrew play. i really love old movies... just better then what we're used to today. it's a treat to see old movies like this one. i think my favorite song from this movie is 'it's too darn hot'. it makes me want to learn tap dancing and have a killer set of gams. the tiny waists are cute too.

every other tuesday night: evan and i have recently begun a married small group with some friends in the local christian community. we're meeting 2 times a month to watch small parts of this book from a seminar by the author. we recieved it as a wedding present but haven't had time to read it. so this is really nice to hear the main parts and be able to discuss. it's been fun so far, and we're both really looking forward to learning more about marriage, love, respect and each other.
the little prince with his princesses.
(hannah, ethan and amya.)
they were excited for the magic!

hannah seemed to be looking forward to it the most...

aj and i were eager as well...

the view from our original seats... before we realized
they weren't really going to care if we moved down to
the front. so the jovich ladies were brave and we snuck
down to the bottom level and got some really good seats.

ariel was my favorite! the colors were beautiful, the costumes vibrant and the music numbers wonderful!

the seven dwarves were cute and silly.

belle was cute and 'be our guest' was a lot of fun.

snow white was sweet and her prince was handsome.

even tink was there!

i have to say, this was such a fun night. of course,
all the princesses were there, though i didn't get
pictures of all of them -- they were too quick. i am
so happy that i had the chance to go with my family
and enjoy this. (and enjoy it i did!) i think i may
have liked it as much or more then the kids. it was
a time to forget everything and be a little girl again.
a truly wonderful experience.

looks like we're going the monster truck ralley with
ethan soon, since he had to endure princess wishes. : )

11.14.2007

this is what i see when i start my days... at 3:30 in the morning.
many weeks, i am up at this time for at least 4 days in a row.
i will say, this schedule is beginning to wear on my physically
and emotionally seeing that i have school after work, homework
and cleaning. (aside from maintaining relationships.) there are
only few benefits to this job... being that i like the people who i
work with. please pray for me that things will get better or the
Lord will reveal another job He may have for me. i am forever tired.

p.s. i do not mean to feel sorry for myself -- i know there are people far worse off then i. i just need to vent... and now i have to go to bed.

11.13.2007

here's a little taste of my thursday night to come. AJ is treating the ladies in the family, plus one studly man, ethan, to a magical icy night in seattle, with princesses' galore. i can't tell you how excited i am... i will be screaming along side 5 year olds. it's going to be so great to be a kid again... i am looking forward most to seeing ariel. she was my favorite, the red hair and mermaid tail always did me in. (and eric was a stud.) so, i will take pictures and make sure to share a full account of my night with royalty. : )

i am excited to announce that my brother, John, proposed to his girlfriend, Katie today. (on her birthday, that sly devil.) i don't know too many deets yet but am very excited for them. they will be getting married soon, i'd imagine. can't wait for engagement parties, wedding showers, a wedding and a new sister! congratulations, you love birds.

highlights of a truly jam-packed yet incredibly fun weekend:
hoping a late night train to india after a delightful house-warming party.

attending a beautiful wedding of dear friends.

sharing some yummy clams and garlic potatoes with my honey.

watching a thought provoking movie with friends.

having fun at a little friend's birthday party!

sharing a plate of tasty mango curry chicken with serrah.
(among interesting conversation with erin and kaylin!)

eating too many tootsie rolls with my dear aurora.

looking forward to another fun weekend with all the people i love!
let's just get through this week. i'm finally old enough to realize why everyone "lives" for the weekend. too true, right? fun are the days when no one has school or work! yay!

11.02.2007

the darjeeling limited. this was a great movie. kudos, wes. you did it again. i'll say, of all of wes anderson's films, this one is top 3. the actors were on their best game and the scenes were beautiful. i never thought a train could be so interesting. so now... i need to get to india.

scratch europe for places i'd like to go. india, you have my heart. for obvious reasons, i think my first destination of travel when i have the chance is india. this is a weird memory, but when i was little i used to watch a little princess a lot. there was a part in that movie where sarah imagines a big head of buddah in the water, covered with moss... it was beautiful and it was in india. since then, i have had that image of india in my head - i want to go there.

naan. the tasty delight from the far east. garlic is my favorite, with a little plum and cilantro - delicious. this movie was such an inspiration to see the beautiful country of india. i can't wait to hightail it over there! (but cedars is close enough for me, right now.)

if you haven't yet had the pleasure of chai - please do. just not from starbucks. (because it just isn't authentic. trust me, i am a slave to the sbux.) cedars or any other indian restuarant will offer the good stuff. get some. it's delish.

doesn't this look comfy? the kind of place you'd drink endless chai and chat with your friends?
yes. if ever i have the means to create a room like this, i will and we shall enjoy one another's company while we sip piping hot chai.

just a little rant about traveling. i didn't think i wanted to travel so much. i just keep getting inspired. better listen to my inspirations.

merry halloween, everyone!
what a day! you can pretend to
be someone else and eat a
lot of candy and it's okay!

i have found that this blog has proved to be a confession booth... for pop culture which i have succumb to. though, these ladies, i'm not too ashamed of. when i think back to the zigaziga-ah... i am reminded of simpler times in my youth (not long ago) when i could spend the weekend dressing up as the spice girls and watching spice world with my best friends. i still remember the first time i heard them, on the bus ride home. i had a cool bus driver who played 101.5 - the rest is history.

in halloweens past, i pulled the scary spice card a few times and it is remembered as my best halloweens. one would assume that i of course did the 'fro, but i went all out and did my hair in all the mini buns as scary often did. it was super fun. i will try my hardest to find pictures...

i just want to add that these girls are so cool, even still. all have become mothers in the years since spicehood and have flourished in other areas. (well... maybe not flourish, but have done things.) i just have to say that i'm super excited for their reunion tour and hope they can work their spicy magic once again. even if they don't, they still have a special place in my heart.
