today was an sad/happy/super exciting day for will and i! this morning, we were sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast and looking at his four tadpoles. will decided their habitat was getting a bit dirty, so we got a new container and found the net to move them into their new home. mistake number one: making the transition near the sink. will wanted to do this on his own, so i just stood by cringing, not wanting to touch the little wiggly things. tadpoles one, two and three made it into their new home just fine. tadpole four was very very adventurous and jumped out of the net into the garbage disposal. i have seen too many movies where that thing gets turned on when someone's hand is in there, so i refused to do it. maybe that makes me a bad nanny, i don't know. will simply said, "the tadpole has free will. he made his choice. if he wants to live down there, so be it." i decided it was probably best to just let it be for a little while until i could figure out what to do. i took a flashlight and saw the area wasn't too big, but i still couldn't bare the thought of sticking my precious hand down that disgusting hole to fish out the creature. in frustration, i just let the water fun until the sink was half full. to my surprise, the little tadpole popped out of the hole, and thinking quickly, i grabbed the net and scooped that little sucker to safety. i am now proud to say the tadpole is safe at home with his friends. never doing that again.
